The survey revealed that nearly a third (28%) of asset managers plan to distribute tokenised funds by 2030, a significant increase from the 13% who intend to do so by 2026. This shift highlights the growing recognition among asset managers of the benefits of tokenisation, such as automation, improved liquidity, and the ability to reach new investors. Nearly two-thirds (65%) of managers who have already launched a tokenised fund reported these advantages over traditional models.

Money market funds (MMFs) and private asset funds emerged as the most favoured asset classes for tokenisation, reflecting their potential to attract a diverse range of investors. The sentiment among asset managers overwhelmingly favours collaboration with technology partners and digital distribution platforms to access this burgeoning market, rather than building in-house capabilities or going direct to investors.

On the other side of the spectrum, DeFi providers have also shown a strong appetite for tokenised funds. The study found that 80% of DeFi and Web3 platforms believe tokenised MMFs could enhance treasury management. Furthermore, 50% of these platforms expect their tokenised holdings to rise by at least 25% by 2030. This growing interest is driven by the desire to combine the safety, liquidity, and yield of traditional products with blockchain-native benefits such as on-chain settlement and integration with digital wallets.

The dual demand for tokenised MMFs among DeFi platforms and investors is evident. While most DeFi platforms still rely on traditional money market funds or bank deposits for cash management, there is a clear demand for access to these products on the venues where they already trade crypto. Cryptocurrency platform OKX Australia has introduced two automated trading bots aimed at helping local traders manage their digital asset portfolios around the clock.

The company launched its Spot Grid Bot and DCA Martingale Bot as Australia's cryptocurrency user base is expected to reach 11.8 million in 2025, according to Statista.

The Spot Grid Bot creates a range of automated buy and sell orders within price parameters set by users, while the DCA Martingale Bot manages positions by automatically purchasing additional assets when prices fall.

Both trading tools include risk management features like customisable stop-loss settings and real-time monitoring capabilities.

"These automated solutions are powerful tools offered to users to manage their trading," OKX Australia said.

The platform has seen local trading volumes triple since launching in Australia in May 2024.

Both bots are currently available through the OKX mobile app, with web access planned for future release.

The company is running a promotion offering rewards up to 60 USDT for users who complete bot-related quizzes and achieve certain trading volumes.

OKX Australia allows direct Australian dollar deposits and withdrawals, offering over 503 cryptocurrency trading pairs and more than 278 tokens.

The platform recently won "Cryptocurrency Exchange of the Year" at the WeMoney Cryptocurrency Awards and has increased its local team by 150% in recent months.

OKX is currently running its Summer of Crypto campaign until February 28, 2025, featuring billboards across Sydney displaying real-time cryptocurrency prices alongside median house prices.

New customers can receive $20 in Bitcoin when trading $20 within their first 14 days of joining the platform.

A new survey by Protocol Theory, in partnership with cryptocurrency exchange Easy Crypto, has found that nearly 50% of Australians have bought or are considering buying cryptocurrency in the next year. This high adoption rate comes as many Australians seek alternative investment options to home ownership.

Key findings from the survey of 1,000 Australian adults include:

1. Almost 1 in 3 Australian adults currently own, have previously owned, or are actively considering buying crypto for the first time.
2. Australia's crypto adoption rate far exceeds the global average of 6.8%.
3. 42% of investors feel crypto gives them hope for the future, despite 68% believing the future will be more difficult.
4. 40% of Australian investors believe crypto facilitates their financial freedom.
5. 64% said they could afford to invest small amounts in crypto, compared to only 22% who viewed real estate as accessible.

Janine Grainger, CEO and co-founder of Easy Crypto, said: "For many Australians, the dream of home ownership is at odds with their current economic reality. At the same time, crypto is seen as more mainstream - including by institutional investors -- and our mission is to leave no one behind."

The survey also revealed:

• Rising discontent with traditional financial systems, with 1 in 3 investors attracted to crypto because it reduces profits for banks and other companies.
• A perception among younger investors that crypto enables greater equality compared to property investment.
• More than 50% of crypto investors stay invested despite market volatility.

However, the survey also highlighted barriers to wider adoption, including the need for better education and more user-friendly platforms. 70% of Australians said much of the available information about crypto is difficult to understand.

Grainger emphasized the need for the crypto industry to improve engagement with both existing and future investors, calling for products that address volatility and complexity, such as user-friendly wallets suited for beginners.

The survey suggests that as housing affordability remains a challenge, particularly for younger generations, cryptocurrency is increasingly seen as a more accessible alternative for building wealth and financial freedom.
