Here at nestegg, we love podcasts for two reasons: For the intelligent and interesting people that we get the chance to speak to and for the insight that we can glean from sitting down for half an hour with them.

From an editorial perspective, it would be too difficult for us to ever decide on a top five for the year. Each podcast brings something different to the table – whether it’s a good story, a valuable piece of knowledge, or a lesson learned.

What we can do though, is give you a run-down of the five podcasts that piqued the interest of our readers and listeners the most.

Without further ado, we present to you the top five most listened-to nestegg podcasts for 2019:

  1. All things Robo, artificial intelligence and exchange-traded fund

In this podcast, host David Stratford was joined by Richard Lightbound, ETF Securities’ co-head of sales and Robo Global’s CEO of EMEA Asia, to discuss the Robo Global Index.

They also did a deep dive into changes affecting commercial business in 2019 and how technology is being deployed as product in society.

  1. Planning for tomorrow’s lifestyle today

Retirement’s always been a hot topic on nestegg, and this chat with Jason Nyilas, Aberdeen Standard Investments’ head of retirement and product strategy, was no different.

This popular podcast explored the importance of receiving financial advice into retirement and how default pension options aren’t always an individual’s best bet.

  1. How savvy investors are turning otherwise idle cash into a wealth-creation tool

IPO Wealth CEO Ewan Laughlin and Mayfair 101 managing director James Mawhinney unpacked their insight for nestegg to reveal how individuals can grow their wealth through better distribution.

The podcast’s release pre-election also provided listeners with commentary on the May election and its potential impacts on the property market, as well as the importance of customer transparency throughout the investment process.

      2. Why investors shouldn’t be afraid of a slowdown in the market

The June appearance of Bell Direct equity strategist Julia Bell provided some much-needed reassurance to investors during a particularly bleak period of the year market-wise.

She shared a number of ways investors can build up a diversified portfolio in a low interest rate environment and illustrated the silver linings of a market slowdown for Australian investors.

  1. Making a full-time income in just a few hours a day a few days a week

The most popular podcast for nestegg’s listeners this year came in May, when David Stratford spoke with former television personality Greg Morgan.

Touching on topics as varied as broadcasting Saddam Hussein’s capture to the world to sitting by a pool in Bali, it’s no surprise this podcast nabbed the top spot.

In just 20 minutes, Mr Morgan shared so much of his trading and investment insight with the nestegg team, from his early mistakes and education to how he has shifted his investment strategies.

As relevant for listeners now as it was on the day of its release, it’s worth checking out – and definitely worth it’s first place ranking!
