HarbourVest Partners strengthens global marketing with new leadership appointment
In a strategic move to bolster its global marketing efforts, HarbourVest Partners, a renowned private markets investment specialist, has appointed Michelle Han as the Head of Global ex-US Marketing. This appointment reflects the firm's commitment to expanding its footprint and enhancing client engagement across key regions outside the United States, including Asia-Pacific (APAC), Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as well as Canada and Latin America (LATAM).

Michelle Han, who officially joined HarbourVest on 1 September 2025, will be based in London. Her role will involve spearheading the firm's marketing strategy and execution in these critical regions. Reporting directly to Ray Ahn, Chief Marketing Officer, Han's appointment is seen as a pivotal step in HarbourVest's pursuit of growth, particularly within the wealth segment, which has shown an increasing demand for tailored investment solutions.
The decision to bring Han on board underscores HarbourVest's long-term vision of scaling its operations and deepening its engagement with clients across the globe. Hemal Mirani, Head of Asia Pacific at HarbourVest Partners, expressed the firm's enthusiasm for Han's arrival, stating, “We’re excited to welcome Michelle to the team to lead our marketing strategy beyond the US. This appointment aligns with HarbourVest’s broader strategy to scale our multi-manager platform, leveraging deep GP relationships and data-driven insights to deliver diversified exposure across investment cycles."
Han's extensive experience in marketing, spanning over 25 years, positions her as a valuable asset to HarbourVest. Her background includes building high-performing teams and implementing brand and client engagement strategies across various geographies. Before joining HarbourVest, she served as the Global Head of Growth & Digital Marketing at Schroders. Her career also includes senior marketing roles at Capital Group and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where she honed her skills in driving growth and innovation.
The appointment comes at a time when HarbourVest is keen on capitalising on emerging opportunities in the global investment landscape. As the firm seeks to strengthen its presence in the APAC, EMEA, and other regions, Han's leadership is expected to play a crucial role in delivering integrated marketing initiatives that align with the firm's growth ambitions.

Ray Ahn, Chief Marketing Officer at HarbourVest, highlighted the significance of Han's role in the company's strategic expansion. "Michelle's appointment is a testament to our commitment to enhancing our global marketing capabilities. Her expertise and leadership will be instrumental in driving our efforts to engage with clients and partners in diverse markets," Ahn remarked.
The focus on expanding marketing efforts outside the US is part of HarbourVest's broader strategy to tap into new markets and client segments. With Han at the helm, the firm aims to leverage her expertise in digital marketing and client engagement to foster stronger relationships and deliver customised investment solutions that meet the unique needs of clients in different regions.
As HarbourVest continues to navigate the complexities of global markets, Michelle Han's appointment marks a significant step forward in its journey to becoming a more agile and client-centric organisation. Her leadership is anticipated to drive innovation and growth, ensuring that HarbourVest remains at the forefront of the private markets investment industry.
In summary, HarbourVest Partners' decision to appoint Michelle Han as Head of Global ex-US Marketing signifies a strategic effort to enhance its global marketing capabilities and expand its presence in key international markets.
