Australia boasts 5th-highest salaries worldwide
Australia has come in fifth place in a list of the best-paying countries around the world based on average salary, a new survey has found.

A UK-based removals company, 1st Move International, undertook the study to find out what the best countries are for relocation for individuals searching for a guaranteed salary increase.
Australians took the fifth place ranking with an average salary of $89,797, behind Switzerland ($136,256), USA ($112,626), New Zealand ($97,033) and Japan ($94,451).
The statistics were similar when the study looked at the highest-paying countries overall, with Australia again coming in fifth with a top salary of $2,696,709 behind the same four countries.
Switzerland again took out the top spot, with a top salary of $4,087,980.
The USA ($3,364,249), New Zealand ($2,911,033) and Japan ($2,833,505) also held their positions.
Commenting on the findings, the director of web services at 1st Move International, Jack Limerick, said, “There’s no doubt that salaries vary across the globe.”
“The differences between global economies, industries and even populations all add up and can all have an impact on wages.”
He said it was interesting to see which countries came out on top in the survey.
“Switzerland might not be somewhere you’d initially think to move, but it more or less came top across the board as the best-paying country in the world for most job roles,” Mr Limerick commented.
“Certainly something to consider if you’re thinking of relocating!”
